Mark Whitley was born in Smiths Grove, KY and graduated with a degree in Peace Studies from Chapman University in Orange, CA.  After returning to Kentucky he began making furniture.

From 1999-2005 Mark Whitley was a member of Dry Land Fish, an Americana/Folk/Country band with two childhood friends, Darren Doyle and Jonathan Hodges.  The group toured extensively and was signed to a minor label.

After the band split Mark turned his attention back to furniture making.  He began concentration on one of a kind limited edition pieces and today his furniture is considered Fine Art, often winning awards in juried shows.

Mark and his family live on a farm on a creek in Barren County where he creates his artwork full time in his home studio.
