Friends of Mammoth Cave National Park has released their 2020 Year in Review as a video presentation. The video features Superintendent for Mammoth Cave National Park, Barclay Trimble relaying park related news as well as information on planned initiatives.
The video is accompanied by written remarks by FOMC executive director, Richard DuBose and Chairman, Tom Carney. They note that despite the cancellation of many programs due to Covid-19 mitigations, they were able to conduct a number of education programs serving thousands of students, teachers and visitors.
Carney noted "...the Friends have continued to be successful in the areas of focus for us, particularly in assisting the Park staff in outreach to the next generation of citizens, helping them learn about the natural world, what it means to (and how it is affected by) human beings, and why we need to nurture and protect it. The children who learn through the programs the Friends support gain a sense of the wonder of Mammoth Cave, its remarkable and fragile nature, and the connectedness of the creatures that inhabit the caves and the surface areas of the park."
