Western Kentucky University Panhellenic recruitment week kicks off with orientation day and meet the Greeks events on Thursday, ahead of M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan. All 491 sorority registrants gathered for a mandatory orientation event in Downing Student Union for tips and guidelines for the recruitment week journey with the 2019 theme, "see yourself Greek."

In orientation unweighted GPA considerations, answering cell phones promptly and alcohol violations amounting to ineligibility were emphasized.

"The biggest thing is we want you live an authentic experience. We're doing this to add value to your experience," Coordinator of Greek Life Andrew Rash said to potential new members.

Part of helping achieve the authentic experience: Gamma Chis. With Gamma Chi, a Greek recruitment counselor to guide and assist her group of PNMs and has disaffiliated herself from her chapter to remain unbiased during the recruitment process.

The Gamma Chi takes PNMs to all of the houses during Open House and is there to answer questions and be someone for PNMs to talk to about decisions.

"Knowledge is power," Rash said, continuing the discussion about PNMs. " Most of the time they didn't get a question answered. Gamma Chis are recruitment counselors. They're here so you never feel like you are alone. "
