Helping. Healing. One Child at a Time.

More About Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center

It is the mission of the Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center to reduce trauma to child abuse victims by providing one-safe, child-friendly location where teams of professionals work together to pursue justice and offer treatment.

Our vision is to help create and maintain a safe, healthy environment free of child abuse.

The Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center, or "BRACAC," provides support and services to victims of child sexual abuse and their non-offending family members or caregivers. A child-friendly environment that ensures a child's safety, health, and well-being is provided.

The Center starts with the idea that no one agency or professional can prevent and treat the crime of child sexual abuse. Rather, it takes a multidisciplinary team of professionals in law enforcement, child protective services, medical, legal, and mental health who work together to advocate for the rights of a child. This mission is accomplished by:

- Coordinating and supporting a multidisciplinary team investigation
- Providing crisis intervention, advocacy, and treatment services for children and their non-offending family members/caretakers
- Enhancing prosecution, where warranted
- and providing ongoing education and training to the professionals who work to protect the civil rights of child.
