The Devon Allman Project with special guest Duane Betts will play Friday at the Vette City Motorcycle Music Fest in Bowling Green.

The Devon Allman Project is a six-piece ensemble featuring percussionists John Lum and R. Scott Bryan, bassist Justin Corgan, guitarist Jackson Stokes and Hammond B3 organist Nicholas David. The Devon Allman Project with special guest Duane Betts announced an extensive North American and international tour, and the Vette City Motorcycle Music Fest is on the schedule.

“I really look at the best cats from my hometown and put them in the room together,” Devon Allman said. “We got lucky that we have so much chemistry.”

The Devon Allman Project with Duane Betts is a go-to jam band to add in Spotify playlists. Thousands of attendees for the Vette City Motorcycle Music Fest will have a chance to see the band at the National Corvette Museum from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. Friday.

Allman, a guitarist, keyboardist, vocalist, songwriter and record producer spanning 20 years, draws experience from his other founding bands, Royal Southern Brotherhood and Honeytribe, and steals the show.

“Particularly in a jam band genre everyone can play their asses off,” Allman said. The Allman Brothers were the precursor to a generation of popular jam bands like Widespread Panic and Phish. Devon (Gregg Allman) and Duane (Dickey Betts) are sons of co-founders of The Allman Brothers, who were the leading architects of fused and improvisatory blues, jazz, country and rock.

“All those groups, they had really timeless songs and that’s what we’re trying to do is strike the balance with being able to jam and also having timeless songs,” Allman said. “The setlist changes every night. It’s really a lot of material (from) my past band, Royal Soyal Brotherhood, and we play homage to my father. It’s really a mix. We have a really great mix in regarding to sets and there is some surprise cover songs. I really don’t want to give it all away. Leave some element of surprise.”

Vette City Motorcycle Music Fest promises two nights of music and fun. Performers to also appear at the NCM amphitheater are Bret Michaels, Gretchen Wilson, Lita Ford, Foghat, The Kentucky HeadHunters, The Georgia Satellites, David Lee Murphy, Pat Travers, Big Smo, Smith & Wesley, Louisiana Swamp Donky, Otis and Geneva.

Along with music, the attractions include blowout biker games, a burnout contest, dyno drags, a globe of death, “torch” ride show, beer garden, custom bike show, custom car and truck show, kids zone, food and merchandise vendors and two $1,000 winner-take-all poker runs.
