The new season begins Saturday, July 28 with the premiere of “Guitar Heroes,” a tribute to the music of legendary guitar virtuosi, including Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix, and Prince. Produced by Orchestra Kentucky Founder and Music Director Jeff Reed, this brand-new concert experience features local audience favorites The Rewinders, and full orchestra.
“Last season’s opener, a tribute to 1967’s ‘Summer of Love,’ was also a brand-new production and was very well received,” said Reed. “I had been thinking about a tribute to the great guitarists for some time, and the audience response to the ‘Summer of Love’ finally spurred me to put together this new concert.”
Orchestra Kentucky Executive Director Scott Watkins notes, “To a large extent, the reputation of this institution was built on Jeff’s tribute shows. His ability to identify talent, including The Rewinders and Retro Singers, and faithfully reproduce the sound of the original recordings is truly outstanding. Audiences love these concert experiences and ‘Guitar Heroes’ will not disappoint.”
